Some Thoughts
Jerusalem had a long history already, mentioned in JOS 10:1, JDG 1:8, and 1SA 17:54. Those Jebusites were pretty arrogant, even long after 1SA 18:7. / David's sons born in Hebron were recorded in 2SA 3:1-5 (1CH 3:1-3) and those born in Jerusalem were in 2SA 5:13-16 (1CH 14:3-7). Altogether he had up to 11 sons (the genders of the children born in Jerusalem were not specified.) It's curious how his second son was only mentioned once in all scripture (and in the parallel).
